Culver City Symphony Orchestra
60th ANNIVERSARY SEASON Next Concert:
"60th Anniversary Celebration"
Sunday, April 6, 2025, 7:00pm
The Robert Frost Auditorium Music Director Clyde Mitchell opens our 60th Anniversary program with the Suite for Strings by Corelli, which also opened our first concert in 1965. Danzas de Panama was the first of many works by Berres’ friend William Grant Still performed by the Orchestra. Dr. Still attended the 1966 performance. In 1929, while living in New York, the young George Beresowsky, later known as George Berres, composed Dream Grotto, a “Symphonic Poem for Large Orchestra.” Today’s Culver City Symphony Orchestra is indeed a “Large Orchestra” and we end with an appropriately large work, the masterful Romantic Symphony No. 2 of Johannes Brahms.
